Could a visit by an Ambassador help you and your students? The STEM Ambassadors programme (nationally co-ordinated by STEMNET) supports teachers by inspiring young people about science, technology, engineering and maths and related career opportunities. Ambassadors are CRB-checked volunteers employed across a wide range of STEM disciplines and careers, including forensic scientists, civil engineers and astrophysicists just to name a few! They help to bring the school curriculum alive and can act as role models, working to debunk popular myths about nerdy scientists and grimy engineers! Ambassadors bring the world of work to schools and colleges. Typical activities in which they can be involved include supporting STEM activities and clubs in schools, judging competitions, making awards and acting as role models by offering mentoring or careers guidance. If you would like to find out more about inviting an Ambassador into your school (Ambassadors are a FREE resource!), please contact Vickie Bazalgette on 020 3206 0460 or by email: vickie.bazalgette@stemnet.org.uk |
